The main reason for a car not to start or die is a bad battery, which is why we recommend having jumper cables for the car. When jumper cables start the car, the alternator should keep the battery charged while running. If the battery is dead when starting the next time, check the battery cables to make sure they are not loose or corroded. And one other possibility, the battery is at the end of its useful life.
